When is Black Friday 2016?
Well Amazon have already started their sales, but traditionally it is the day after Thanksgiving. This year it falls on Friday 25th November.
What is Black Friday?
For retailers, it's usually seen as the start of the Christmas shopping season. On Black Friday, prices are reduced for 24 hours in an attempt to get people shopping. The day earned its name as it’s often the day shops ‘move into the black’ – meaning they have enough money to cover their costs.
And it works – as customers often queue for hours, even days to get their hands on the best bargains.
Unfortunately for retail stores, the shopping mania has been known to descend into violence as people argue over discounted goods with limited quantities available.
